About The Resort

Ngutuni Lodge is a luxury safari lodge located in the heart of a 10,000 acre private game sanctuary, surrounded on three sides by Tsavo East National Park. The lodge overlooks a water hole and is set against the spectacular backdrop of the Sagala Hills, only 2.5 hours drive from Mombasa and its international airport.

Disabled Access & Facilities

There is a small flight of steps at the entrance to the property (approx 6 steps), thereafter the ground floor of the lodge is on a single level accept for one small step between the main restaurant / bar area and guest bedrooms.

All rooms are the same size and have ample room for wheel chair use, though bathrooms have shower only.

Things to see and do

The lodge water hole attracts animals throughout the day & night. Soft illumination means you can enjoy watching animals through the night from the privacy of your balcony or during the daytime from the open plan bar & restaurant deck.

Morning and afternoon game drives in the sanctuary include riverside circuits beside the Voi River, Ngutuni Hill with its view point and onwards into Tsavo east National Park.

Ngutuni Lodge has 48 guest rooms, each sleeping up to three people in one single and one double bed. Many of the guest rooms have interconnecting doors, making the Lodge ideal for families and larger parties.

All of the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, with ensuite shower rooms. Private balconies overlook the large water hole, which is illuminated at night for evening game viewing.

Dress Code

At Ngutuni we dress for dinner (smart casual) and men must wear collared shirts and long trousers in the evening. Please feel free to wear shorts and t-shirts for breakfast & lunch.

Dinner offers a 4 course menu (soup, salad, main course, desert & tea/coffee)

The lodge has a shop selling camera film, batteries, suntan lotions, personal necessities (ie. toothbrush/paste), safari clothing, sunhats, maps and African themed gifts.

Ngutuni Lodge is situated on the edge of one of the world’s largest game sanctuaries.

This is an example of how your wedding could unfold:

Day 1

  • 7.00 – Depart Mombasa for 2 hour transfer to Ngutuni Lodge
  • 9.30 – The bride and groom will be given two separate rooms in opposite wings on either side of the main restaurant. Time to relax, freshen up and dress for the wedding.
  • 11.30 – A group of traditional dancers (male for the groom and female for the bride) lead them to the area in the restaurant overlooking the waterhole, where the wedding takes place.
  • After the registrar pronounces you man and wife, you will cut your rich fruitcake. Relax and enjoy champagne as the traditional dancers entertain you.
  • Lunchtime – Lunch is served to you at this wonderful viewpoint, and after lunch the dancers will lead a procession back to your room.
  • 15.00 – You will be taken on a private game drive in Tsavo East National Park. The Park offers the chance to see rhinos, elephants, lions, ostriches and zebras in their natural habitat.
  • Dinner – You will be served dinner in the lodge restaurant and then overnight at the lodge.

Day 2

  • After a late breakfast, check out of Ngutuni and proceed on a game drive in the National Park en-route to your Mombasa hotel.
  • You may wish to bring along your closest family and friends. If you have a small party of up to four extra passengers and you are happy for them to share your vehicle then the supplementary price is $155 per person. This includes transfers to and from Ngutuni lodge, accommodation on a FB basis and the game drives detailed above and park entrance fees.
  • If you would prefer to have your guests in a separate vehicle, the cost is $247 per additional passenger (minimum 4 persons and maximum 7).
  • Lodge facilities include a reception area that opens into the bar and restaurant with a long outside terrace offering panoramic views. These public areas are all elevated and have been designed in sympathy with the natural surroundings, with wood floors, timber beams, wood and canvas furniture, and a thatched roof. The lodge’s peaceful surroundings will ensure you remain relaxed througout your big day. After sunset, as dinner is served in the restaurant, you can watch in excited anticipation for the arrival of elephants and other animals at the watering hole below you.
